Good morning everyone,

I was talking with Glenda and we decided that it would be good to touch base with all of you since we are not able to be together at the church for Sunday school right now. A lot of things have changed since the last time we were together on Mar. 15th.

For those of you who were in Sunday school on Mar. 8th and 15th you will remember that our lessons were on the book of Job in the Bible. Job was a wealthy man who loved God. As we read though, we find out that even though he loved God and respected God and tried to please Him, life was not all good. Satan comes along to try and get him to turn his back on God.

Job had lots of things taken away from him, his family, his servants, his animals and even his health. After all of this happened Job could still say “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job 1:20

Remember all of the things you drew on those sheets of paper? You drew things that you were thankful for, people in your life, abilities God gave you etc. The question was asked, if God took all of these things away from you would God still be good?

You might be wondering why I am reminding you of these things. I am thinking that right now in your lives a lot of things have been taken away from you. You are not able to go and visit with your friends. You can’t go to school. Some of you have sports activities, dance lessons and other activities you were involved in that have now stopped. You are sitting at home and not allowed to go to the playgrounds. For now, life has changed and you aren’t sure how long this change will last.

How are you feeling about all of this? How are you responding? Are you angry, upset and miserable? Are you disappointed? It is OK to feel disappointed and somewhat sad but I want to remind you of what Job’s response was when life took a turn for the worse. Job still worshipped God and He knew that God was still there for him.

We don’t know why God is allowing this pandemic to happen. We can’t understand why all of these things have been taken away from us. But one thing we do know is that God still loves and cares for us and He is very much aware and in control of what is happening.

OK, this was a very long message. I hope and pray you are doing OK. Please feel free to send me an email and let me know how you are keeping busy if you like. We miss our times together. Hoping it won’t be too long and we can be together again. Any emails sent my way I will share with Glenda too.

Here’s a riddle for you. I lose my head every morning but get it back at night. What am I?

Send me your answer.
